Nepal tour guide Nepal Trekking guide. Tour guiding in Nepal is one of the most lucrative and sought after professions. Though, there are over 4000 certified Nepal tour guides in tourism providing a strong foundation for Nepalese tourism industry.

The attraction of educated youth in tour guiding profession is increasing every day. Since 2000, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of young adults, both men and women, taking up tour guiding as a profession. 

Every year Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) conducts training to produce skilled manpower in trekking and tourism field. Of late Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA) has also started organizing training and offering Nepal tour guide Nepal Trekking guide license.

Training includes both theoretical and practical courses. Tour guide training offers classes in Nepalese culture, history, nature, anthropology, trekking, iconography, environment, art &architect, religion, wildlife and demography. As well as First Aid and communication are two other courses offered in the training.

In order to be eligible for tour guide training, one should have bachelor’s degree, possess few years’ experience in the field and those with a flair for second language (European, English, Japanese, Chinese etc.) is given a priority.

Thousands of youth apply for the training but only few get selected year. The aspirants have to go through rigorous monitoring, screening and interview process.  Besides practical classes, trainees are also required to sit in examination to receive tour guide license.

Similarly there are nearly 15000 trekking guides in Nepal. To be eligible for trekking guide training, one needs to have some years of experience working as trekking porter and have at least passed 10th grade. Unlike tour guide training, trekking guide training focuses more on nature, culture, history, first aid as well as communication.
